"An After Easter Disappointment"
April 19, 2026
Last Sunday, we considered the disciples' journey "Behind locked doors"—from fear and confusion to a place of peace and purpose. Jesus met them in their uncertainty, breathed courage upon them, and commissioned them with a simple, powerful call: “As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” That message left us with a creative nudge: The tomb is empty, but "Where do we go from here?"
As we continue to navigate life after Easter, this week we are reminded that sometimes, after a mountain-top experience, the next steps are met with questions and even disappointments. The disciples on the road to Emmaus felt it, too. As they walked and discussed, they were joined by a "stranger" who revealed to them a different story, changing everything they thought they knew.
This Sunday, we are excited to welcome a special guest preacher, Reverend Barbarann Breland. In her sermon, "An After Easter Disappointment," drawing from Luke 24:13-35, she will guide us through that famous walk to Emmaus and help us find new hope and a different perspective when our own journeys take unexpected turns.
We look forward to hearing a word from Reverend Breland that challenges, encourages, and inspires us to keep moving forward. Join us in faith and fellowship as we worship together at 10:00 a.m. this Sunday. Whether you are with us in person or tuning in from home, we can't wait to share this powerful message with you.
