In John 14:15–21, Jesus prepares the disciples for a difficult transition. Though he will no longer be physically present with them, he promises they will not be abandoned. Instead, they will receive the Advocate, the Spirit of truth, who will guide, comfort, and sustain them.
This passage reminds us that love is more than emotion; it is revealed through relationship, trust, and faithful living. Just as a mother’s love nurtures, protects, forgives, and provides a safe place for growth, so God’s love surrounds us and strengthens us for life’s journey. Jesus assures us that we are not left to navigate the world alone. Through the Holy Spirit, we are given the security to stand for justice, love boldly, and remain connected to God even in uncertain times.
This Sunday, we will reflect on the power of abiding love, the kind of love that holds us together, forms our identity, and calls us to represent Christ’s presence in the world
